Hi guys,
Read the letter below and think about how you might be able to help. My good friend is a teacher at Farley Mowat Public School in Barrhaven and is looking for help for their Read-A-Thon. Any Cash or Prize donation you offer is helpful. There is definitely a chance to promote your company locally if you are in that part of town as well. And, how can you not help Kids? Read on and get in touch with Val, the contact from the letter, and let her know how you’d love to help!

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn the more places you’ll go!” – Dr. Seuss
My name is Valerie Dunn and I am currently a teacher at Farley Mowat Public School in Barrhaven. On March 19th, we are launching our sixth annual Read-A-Thon here at Farley Mowat Public School. Our school opened in September 2006. We are still a “young” school but are growing very rapidly. With now almost 1000 students, both English and French speaking, we are desperately looking to purchase more science, math and language resources for our classrooms. In order to build classrooms that accommodate the growing needs of our students and support the Ontario Curriculum, we are organizing our 6th annual Farley Mowat Read-A-Thon Fundraiser and we need your help!
Our Read-A-Thon is similar to a walk-a-thon. Students pledge to read (or be read to) a certain amount of time during the Read-A-Thon. Students then ask sponsors to pledge money to encourage them to reach their reading goals. We are extremely proud to say that last year we raised $9309.68 for our school. This year, our goal this year is to raise $10,000 and we are certain that we can do it!
As a fundraiser incentive, we are seeking prizes to offer our students. With a massive population directly from the Barrhaven area, many families in our school frequent your business. If you decide to donate to our special cause, it will provide you not only an excellent advertisement opportunity for your business but also possibly increase your number of clients from the area. That being said, the names and locations of all local business supporters will be included on the cover page of our Read-A-Thon Prize Package that will go home with all students at the closing ceremonies of this event. Tax receipts for donations may also be issued by our Board if desired.
Interested in donating? Should you be interested in supporting our annual Read-A-Thon Fundraiser, but more importantly making a difference in the lives of the wonderful students at Farley Mowat Public School, we are requesting any monetary donation that can be put towards prizes for the children that demonstrate frequent reading throughout the four weeks.
We would appreciate a response to our request at your earliest convenience. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact me by email at Valerie.dunn@ocdsb.ca or (613) 440-3469.
I look forward to hearing from you and thank your in advance for your consideration!
